Abstract:In response to the crisis of the fading soundscapes of the historical scenic spot “Cold Spring Ape Howl” among the “Ten Scenic Spots of Qiantang”, it is urgent to explore and establish a path for revitalizing its soundscapes. Based on the research of ancient documents, the evolution of the soundscapes from the formation period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the full prosperity period of the Tang and Song Dynasties and the decline period of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties is revealed, and the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) lineage of “monkey chirping - chirping art - ventriloquism” is identifi ed, providing a basis for the revitalization of historical soundscapes through ICH ventriloquism. Combined with acoustic digital technologies (deep learning of sound and ArcGIS spatial analysis), the deep mechanisms underlying the weakening of soundscapes are quantitatively diagnosed. Two major soundscapes predicaments — namely, the disconnection of core soundscapes elements and the overall degradation of current soundscapes — are summarized, and a dual-track revitalization strategy of “historical revitalization + systematic improvement” is proposed accordingly. A research framework of “historical tracing - digital diagnosis - ICH revitalization” is constructed to guide the revitalization of soundscapes scenic spots from an ICH perspective, and at the same time, it provides ideas and references for the protection and revitalization of soundscapes scenic spots in China.
