Generative artificial intelligence technology has introduced boundless opportunities in educational instruction. The Ministry of Education has proposed the mandate of “Artificial Intelligence + Human Intelligence”, thereby fostering substantial transformations in education and pedagogy. Shanghai Jiao Tong University has enacted a three-year strategic initiative titled “Artificial Intelligence + Education and Teaching, AI+HI”. In the context of the reform of disciplines and majors, the Department of Landscape Architecture of the School of Design commits to the principle of “simple structure and rich modules” and has reconstructed the curriculum system of “Human Settlements Design” to cultivate compound application-oriented innovative talents in the new era of AI. Among them, teachers and students jointly build digital teaching resources and construct the digital course of “A Brief History of Landscape Garden”; Through the design and vertical model training of a knowledge graph, 24H teaching assistant, and customized command library, an integrated intelligent course platform is built to promote students’ independent learning ability. At the same time, AI technology is integrated into eight advanced and challenging teaching activities to improve aesthetic criticism and artistic speculation ability, enhance practical ability, develop innovative design thinking, and empower the cultural inheritance and innovation of landscape architecture.
