Abstract:This study uses the mediating eff ect of place identity as an entry point and systematically explores how landscape cognition in Anti- Japanese War site parks infl uences tourists’ intentions to revisit and recommend, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the sustainable development of red tourism. Using the Taierzhuang Battle Site Park in Shandong Province as the research sample site, this study constructed a hypothetical “landscape cognition-place identity-behavioral intention” model based on the “Cognitive-Aff ective- Behavioral” theory. Empirical analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS software. Tourists’ landscape cognition signifi - cantly and positively aff ects place identity, revisit intention, and recommendation intention (p<0.001), with the strongest direct eff ect on place identity (β=0.46). Meanwhile, landscape cognition has both direct (a=0.37; d=0.43) and indirect (c×b=0.138; c×g=0.106) eff ects on revisit intention and recommendation intention. In addition, as a mediating variable, place identity is infl uenced by landscape cognition and, in turn, aff ects revisit intention and recommendation intention, validating the infl uence paths of “landscape cognition → place identity → revisit/recommendation intention” and “landscape cognition → revisit/recommendation intention”. This study reveals the multiple infl uence mechanisms among landscape cognition, place identity, revisit intention, and recommendation intention, confi rming that landscape cognition signifi cantly enhances tourists’ behavioral intention by strengthening place identity. Thus, this study suggests that the landscape design of Anti-Japanese War site parks should focus on optimizing historical narrative scenes and stimulating cultural emotional resonance. By deepening the sense of place identity, it can improve tourists’ revisit intention and recommendation intention, thereby contributing to the long-term sustainable development of red tourism.
