Abstract:Based on the review of the history of the development of landscape architecture in Tongji University and the educational pioneers, this paper summarized the heritage and development of the core teaching contents of landscape architecture, pointed out its teaching characteristics of “integration of East and West” and “design innovation”. As a practice-based applied discipline, the paper clarified its teaching objectives of modern landscape architecture and the current development opportunities of its professional education based on national strategies. Moreover, it suggested that landscape architecture education should face national development strategies, explore the professional frontiers, and cultivate professionals with fundamental theories and expertise in landscape architecture, planning and design methods, practical skills, and practical abilities that meet national needs.
