Abstract:The senior community in the historical site has the dual attributes of history and living life, unique in urban renewal and historical and cultural protection. Presently, the renewal and development of senior communities in historical sites are faced with the problems of focusing on material improvement rather than cultural response, the apparent gap between internal and external development efforts, and the low level of public participation. Through the concept of a community museum, the paper constructs the renewal path of “space carrier + cultural core + subject drive + external activator” for the senior communities in the historical site. With the research scope of the Liziba area in Chongqing, the paper analyzes the current characteristics and development problems of the senior communities in the Liziba area in the aspects of space, culture, people, and operation. Accordingly, this paper puts forward four renewal strategies, including reshaping the mountain three-dimensional space system, activating the cultural value of the diverse mountain city, strengthening the main action framework of residents, and giving full play to the advantages of surrounding industries, which in order to provide innovative ideas for the renewal practice of senior communities in urban historical sites.
