Abstract:The Lake Biwa National Park in Japan, with a history of 70 years, has formed comprehensive leisure and recreational tourist resort centered on Biwa Lake, which sets a successful example with the surrounding historical and cultural heritage and natural resources. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the Lake Biwa National Park’s resources and the forms of recreational use, studies the current situation of tourism development, and explores the balance between the resources protection and recreational use of the lake-type National Park. The results showed that: (1) The development intensity of the water surface of Lake Biwa was only 2.2%, which minimized the disturbance and damage of human activities to the water quality of the water source area. (2) The island still retains the traditional production and lifestyle of the original inhabitants, which protects the interests of the aboriginal people and ensures the integrity and integrity of the natural and cultural resources of the park. (3) Lake Biwa uses effective methods to develop regional tourism and improve residents’ economic life. The results provide an exploration system that references national parks in protecting and using the natural environment and humanity’s history, management, and other sides.
