Abstract:The evolution history of the relationship among landscape, city and people can be seen in the traditional Chinese landscape poetry and painting art. From the pursuit of survival to the pursuit of poetic habitation, the ancient Chinese gradually formed the traditional space-time view, which is “the integration of space and time, the blending of things and me” and “move in circles, interchange big and small”, which contains the communication and fusion of natural space and time and psychological space and time. It reflects the orientalism of landscape art which is totally different from western. On the basis of combing the space-time view in Chinese traditional landscape poetry and painting, this paper tries to understand the different view of space-time realms, and further considers whether in the work of landscape architecture, time and space can be used as a medium to break the “gap” between people and their environment, create “the self-realm”, and lead to “the selfless realm”, furthermore, to explore the theoretical basis of landscape architecture design in the context of Chinese traditional culture.
