As the external extension of garden space, garden surrounding alleys play an important role in the protection of garden heritage. However, at present, the protection of the alleys around the garden heritage mainly stay in the planning and control stage, and there are few effective protection of surrounding alley environment and integration protection of the garden heritage and alleys. By using the methods of literature research and field inspections, this article takes the world heritage Yipu as an example, studies the authenticity of the alleys around the Yipu through ancient map information and literature. Then it figures out the contradictions and conflicts between the Yipu and the surrounding alleys through field research. Based on the connotation of pre-conservation of garden heritage, at last this article puts forward the “Garden, House and Alley” integrated protection concept and relevant measures which are based on the current situation of Yipu.
